Ask Chris Quinn to Act Now on the Pets in Housing Bill.
Our sources at City Hall have told us that Speaker Christine Quinn is not planning to move Council Member Tony Avella’s pets in housing bill*, Intro. 13, towards passage. As the newly elected Speaker of the City Council, she may not realize just how important this issue is to many New Yorkers. Please let her know. As Speaker, she has a very large say in determining which bills are heard before the Council. It’s up to her whether or not this and other animal protective measures get a fair chance.
Please take one minute to call Speaker Quinn’s office – (212) 788-7210 – and simply say: Hi, my name is your-name and I live at your-address. I’m calling to urge Speaker Quinn to schedule Council Member Tony Avella’s pets in housing bill, Intro. 13, for a hearing as soon as possible. I am a voter and I care about a lot about this and other animal issues. Thank you. Remember: if you are a constituent of hers, make sure to say so.
* The pets in housing bill would clarify the existing pet law so that renters who have had the no-pet clause in their lease waived once will not have to have it waived again. For more information on this bill, call (212) 889-0303.
